Finance Accountant (m/f)
Location: Zagreb
About the role:
As a Finance Accountant, you will support the Croatian Finance department, ensuring accurate and compliant accounting records. You will assist with tax affairs, statutory accounting, and corporate regulations. Additionally, you will help ensure company compliance with corporate finance policies and standard reports, including audits. You will also support the Commercial and Operational Departments in their business development efforts.
In this role, you will:
- Ensure the Finance department meets Herbalife standards
- Liaise with the regional finance team on country-specific financial questions
- Assist in preparing Financial Statements to meet Local Statutory Reporting requirements
- Help timely file company tax returns (corporate, income taxes, VAT, social security, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes & Oxley Act requirements
- Ensure member compliance with VAT registration requirements
- Ensure compliance with all necessary reporting requirements
- Assist with Monthly Financial Statements due by the 4th workday of each month
- Assist with Monthly EMEA Management Reports due by the 5th workday of each month
- Reconcile balance sheets, including Inter-co accounts, monthly
- Respond promptly to Corporate/local requests for information
- Build strong, positive relationships with the local team
- Perform administrative activities essential to the Finance department
- Comply with company policies, practices, and regulations
- Report any incidents or concerns to the Finance Manager and upper management
- Follow departmental goals and standards set by superiors.
Our Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience in an Accounting environment
- Progress towards a financial diploma or degree
- Good knowledge of local corporate and income taxes, and local GAAP
- Experience in an international company, preferably with a US parent, is advantageous
- Proficient in PC-based accounting systems and Excel
- Professional communication skills with financial institutions, members, and local staff
- Ability to solve practical problems and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and ability to interact at all levels
- Willingness to work extended hours
- Adaptability as the organization evolves
- Fluent in Croatian
- Good command of English (min. B2 level).
