PROFESIO review of the situation on the construction labor market for 2022.

Profesio has been present on the construction markets of Germany and Croatia for many years.

On this occasion, we would like to briefly review the challenging year 2022. In the past year, we had a lot of work in recruiting civil engineers in Croatia as well as in Germany. Despite a very turbulent year, inflation and war in Ukraine and announcements of recession, the demand for employees was high. Most of the companies continued or started new projects with little or no delay and therefore hired new employees. Foremen on construction sites, site managers, project managers and designers were the most sought after. There is still a shortage of manpower, and as a result there are situations where candidates have a lot of offers and thus it is increasingly difficult for employers to find employees. This trend has been going on for a long time and as it currently looks, it will continue in the next year as well. On the other hand, despite inflation, on average, salaries are at the same level or with smaller increases. Also, it is noticeable that employers are trying to find a solution to, first of all, retain employees, so it remains to be seen how this will unfold in the coming year. As expected, in the last month of this year there was a noticeable slowdown in employment processes. However, requests from our clients continue to arrive, so we enter the New Year with optimism and are very busy.
